Club Update #2018, Nov 2020

It's only one week until our first general meeting since the AGM in August! Grab yourself a cold drink and turn up at 10am on 5 December to have a say in the future of our club.

We will be circulating an agenda during the week, including a draft club shooting calendar for next year. We heard what people had to say about the calendar, and there will be a good mix of stuff proposed, so please take the time to read it and come with any suggestions.

Also, we previously circulated a motion to change our Club Regulations and Safety Policy because the regs currently require people to register for club shoots by writing their names on the club whiteboard, and that scoring is to be done on paper. We’ve moved on, and everyone uses Archers’ Diary for both now. This amendment will ensure that the regs reflect actual practice.

Eric Klein has suggested an addition to the new clause, which I’ve highlighted in red, below. The current clause is also included for reference.

Also, please remember that if you want to contact me regarding this email or other matters, you need to email me at secretary@illawarraarchers.com as we are still waiting for the "do not reply" email address to be fixed by Archery Australia.

Proposed Motion

To replace Clause 12 in the Club Regulations and Safety Policy with:

  1. Archers Competing in Club Competitions shall:
    1. Register via the Club's electronic registration system.
    2. Ensure that their scores are entered into the Club's electronic scoring system.
    3. Notify the Range Captain and those archers shooting on the same target when they are retiring from a Club competition or experiencing equipment failure.
    4. In the event that electronic scoring is not available to archers, paper scoring is to be used. The archer is to record their name, bow type, division, date and name of the round being shot on their scorecard. At the completion of the round, the archer is to sign the scorecard and return it to the Club Recorder.

Background

Clause 12 currently requires physical registration and scoring for Club Competitions. However, Archer's diary is used for both.

It is not proposed to change the existing sub-clause 12.3.

Clause 12 currently reads:

  1. Archers Competing in Club Competitions shall:
    1. Register via Archers Diary, or put their name on the Competition white-board at least 30 minutes before the starting time.
    2. Record their name, bow type, division the name of the round being shot and the date on their score card, and sign the score card at the completion of a shoot and return it to the Recorder. Participants are responsible for ensuring their round scores are entered into the Club's scoring system.
    3. Notify the Range Captain and those archers shooting on the same target when they are retiring from a Club competition or experiencing equipment failure.
